Impact Wrestling on AXS TV put on a very good show this week, a whole notch above last week, as this served as a go-home to their upcoming ImpactPlus special, Turning Point.
Havok and Nevaeh defeated Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood
Making their debut as a team, Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood (with Kaleb with a K) went down in defeat to Havok and Nevaeh in a good wrestling match. The work was good, but the absolute highlight was Kaleb asking Madison after she was outworked by Nevaeh, “Is this your first day?” I guess the Rayne/Dashwood team is done as Dashwood goes to ask Jordynne Grace to be her partner.
Rohit Raju (c) defeated TJP for the IMPACT X-Division Championship
Rohit Raju successfully defended the X Division title against TJP where if TJP didn’t win, he couldn’t challenge Raju again. This was the best match Raju has had since becoming champ.
The finish with a ref distraction was a little too WWE for me but the overall match was very good.
Sherlock Dreamer!
Sherlock Dreamer eliminates Hernandez, Larry D, and Father James Mitchell as suspects in the shooting of John E. Bravo. In the funniest segment, Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz boost that knot of money out of Fallah Bah. Damn son. But you wouldn’t be the first.
Chris Sabin defeated Acey Romero
Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machine Guns beat Acey Romero of XXXL in a solid match that told a good big man vs small man story. The former world and X Division champion got the win after three consecutive kicks to Romero’s face and head. Simple and effective. Romero’s partner, Larry D, jumps Sabin after the bell so that issue is still ongoing. Knowing he needs a partner for the scheduled tag match at Turning Point, Sabin turns to old rival, former world champion and TNA Original, the returning “Cowboy” James Storm.
Eddie Edwards defeated Chris Bey
After a conference with Sami Callihan, “The Ultimate Finesser” Chris Bey had a great showing against multiple time, multi-company world champion Eddie Edwards. The veteran Edwards held off the young lion in a match that featured Bey’s superior speed and athleticism falling just short against Edward’s superior size and vast experience. Callihan attacks Edwards after the match, with world champion Rich Swann attempting to make the save only to be cut off first by Ken Shamrock and then Bey with a chair until both are saved by the Rascalz. A good segment that sets up at least 4 challengers for Swann in the future.
With the announcement that the Rascalz will be leaving next week, Swann sets up a tag main event for them next week with him and Trey Miguel facing Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz. That should be good.
Knockouts champion “The Undead Bride” Su Yung shows us and her Turning Point challenger Deonna Purrazzo that 80s pop song titles can be creepy AF.
Reno Scum defeated Fallah Bah and Crazzy Steve
Reno Scum beat Fallah Bah and Crazzy Steve in a good short match.
Main Event: Karl Anderson defeated Josh Alexander
To cap off a good show, Karl Anderson of the Good Brothers beat Josh Alexander of the world tag champs The North by DQ in a physical match that featured some good basic wrestling and storytelling. Anderson got the DQ when Alexander’s tag partner Ethan Page got involved and they closed with a pull-apart brawl.
Really good show with a lot of significant moments across the roster.
