If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward. —Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On Wednesday, December 18, I attended the AEW Dynamite show in DC at The Entertainment and Sports Arena. It was the first show I’d attended in a long time because of unfortunate life situations. I haven’t felt very social. 2024 hasn’t been the best year, maybe the worst year. Thankfully, my amazing cousin and aunt were lovely enough to encourage me to attend. Without their assistance, I wouldn’t have gone to the show. Being social is hard, especially after having to care for an older loved one and losing said loved one after caring for them for many months. It can be hard to find joy in these times. But I decided to give it a try. I didn’t know if I wanted to go to Dynamite or if I would have any fun.

We bought tickets late Tuesday night and sat in Section 200, the $25 tickets. (Sidebar: The Entertainment and Sports Arena is magical! There aren’t any bad angles. The section 200 seats had a great view, surprisingly. The seats were comfy and had plenty of legroom.) (Another sidebar: AEW must do well selling walk-up tickets. As I waited for my cousin to arrive, many people bought tickets 30 minutes before the show started.) Anyway, I had a blast! The energy in the arena was off the charts! But honestly, I’m not surprised that the DC crowd always brings it. (I’ve been to every local AEW show except for one.)

It’s time DC gets an AEW PPV. We’ve earned it. OK, so the matches all delivered, from the dark matches to the Rampage taping. Again, the crowd was into every match. Of course, some more than others, but you can tell everyone was having a good time. Darby Allin vs Will Ospreay should have main evented and closed the show. Only because we were a little exhausted from watching such a great match. Which may come across on TV as if the crowd was dead and unenthusiastic during the main event. The main event was good, but Allin & Ospreay stole the show.

Again, the crowd reaction enhanced the live show. I’m not sure about the TV episode, but I’m sure Dynamite was a blast on TV, too. Like we were so loud during the Swerve, Nana, and Ricochet backstage segment that you couldn’t even hear what they were saying. I had to watch the segment on YouTube. CEO chants! We Hurt People chants! Chef kiss. I hope Ricochet’s Jadakiss laugh gets over because everyone in my row bursted out laughing. It’s annoying; he should keep doing it. Strap the rocket to Beast Mortos; the DC crowd loved him. You Killed Darby chants! Cowboy shit chants! The Ospreay chants! Willow Nightingale pop! The Nyla Rose crowd reaction. Meat chants during the Powerhouse Hobbs and Mark Davis vs Brian Cage and Konosuke Takeshita match. (Thanks, Big E!). You Killed Darby chants! Fu*k You Yuta! chants.

DC showed Harley Cameron some love. She deserves it. She’s putting in the work. Allin’s Coffin drop on the apron scared me a lot. I know my row was flabbergasted. Ospreay’s Styles Clash to the floor also probably scared some people in the crowd. The Death Riders’ entrance through the crowd looked extra fun and cool. True heel heat. I hope everyone watched Rampage. It was great. I’m happy a good chunk of fans stayed to watch. The crowd was still on fire even during Rampage.

In retrospect, I’m so glad I went to Dynamite. It was a good and fun reintroduction to my social life and wrestling content creation. I can’t erase the pain of losing someone I love. It still hurts. But it’s OK to find a little joy in your hobbies. And watching wrestling is one of my favorite hobbies. In retrospect, I’m so glad I went to Dynamite. After having such a great experience at AEW, DDT Divas is back. But this time, I’m doing it for me.

This means making content about things I care about and the shows I watch. I don’t want to make content about promotions I don’t enjoy. Because this should be fun. (Sidebar: I’m writing an opinion piece about this.)

More AEW, TNA, and indie wrestling focusing on Black-owned and Black-focused indie companies. As always, confirmed news, reviews, rankings (some new rankings I want to test out), opinion pieces, and some fun fantasy bookings.

This should be fun, and it will be fun.

Gonna shamelessly plug my Buy Me Coffee page on every form of content because money has been tight, and being a caregiver to an adult parent in the US is a significant financial hardship. And unemployment sucks. A dollar or 2 would really help me and DDT Divas contributors (there are currently 2 other people who help) (╯︵╰,)
