Quick Impact Wrestling Thoughts:
Impact Wrestling had the second week of the Year-End awards with mostly highlights and award announcements. BTI actually dropped some big news with Deonna Purrazzo challenging Rok-C for the ROH Women’s title airing on their January 13 episode. They still managed to include segments and promos to build to the January 8 Hard To Kill (HTK) pay-per-view in Dallas.
Decay defeated The Learning Tree
A good TV tag match with Decay (Crazzy Steve and Black Taurus) beating The Learning Tree team of Zicky Dice and VSK in the only new match of the week.
Knockouts tag champs The IInspiration–Jessica McKay and Cassie Lee– and their HTK opponents, The Influence–Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood with Kaleb With A K–bumped heads over a photoshoot. They really got the most out of Jai (or Jai With An I here) Vidal in their time in Vegas. Good for him.
Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering Win KO Tag Team of the Year
Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering won the fan balloting for KO Tag Team of the Year. RECOUNT!!! I like them and all but Fire ‘N Flava carried that division for more than half the year.
Willie Mack always has a line that cracks me up in his promos.
Josh Alexander Wins Men’s Wrestler of the Year
Josh Alexander won Men’s Wrestler of the Year. He got my vote.
Mercedes Martinez didn’t like Purrazzo thinking she’s some easy win so they’re going to settle it next week. Big match.
Josh Alexander Wins Match of the Year
Alexander won his second award, winning Match of the Year for his 60 min Iron Man match against TJP (also my pick).
Match Hightlights:
Moose beating Eddie Edwards in his first world title defense in a Full Metal Mayhem match at Turning Point in November.
The IInspiration winning the KO World tag titles from Decay (Rosemary and Havok) at Bound For Glory in October.
Kenny Omega successfully defending the world title against Sami Callihan in a no disqualification match at Slammiversary in July.
The surprise debut of JONAH and his attack on Josh Alexander.
Rich Swann beating Moose to unify the Impact World title with Moose’s TNA title at Sacrifice (a thing I hope they go back to since Swann is the only man to have pinned Moose and Moose not gotten the win back in Impact).
They closed with a big chunk of the Match of the Year winning Iron Man match with Alexander and TJP. Scott D’Amore and Josh Matthews sign off but it’s Impact so the show isn’t over as we see Su Yung return to TV and destroy her Undead Bridesmaid, Kimber Lee and Brandi Lauren, for failing to bring her new souls.
She then reveals she’s pregnant–BIG pregnant–and his/her time is near. The most unique close since they shot a ninja.
See you in 2022.
