Kay Lee Ray defeated Ember Moon

WWE hasn’t given much to their women on any of their shows in weeks. That stopped with Kay Lee Ray’s victory over Ember Moon in a very good match to kick off NXT on USA this week. Physical and given time to develop. Both women put forth their best effort. I would think this was a match they should have built up to a bit and let KLR eat up some lesser women first but maybe they have something for Moon coming up. I hope so.

Santos Escobar defeated Carmelo Hayes

Leader of Legado del Fantasma, Santos Escobar got a win over Breakout Tournament winner, Carmelo Hayes in a competitive bout. I quibble with the booking again with Hayes just winning the tournament, he should get a win here but not over Escobar but over one of the henchmen in Legado.

The Creed Brothers defeated Chuckie Viola and Paxton Averill

I like the looks of the Creed brothers in Diamond Mine. Names dumb AF, but they look like they could have something. A little reckless at times and that needs to be adjusted.

Io Shirai and Zoey Stark defeated Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter

For the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship

The NXT Women’s tag titles returned to TV with champs Io Shirai and Zoey Stark successfully defending against Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter. They’re nice enough wrestlers but Catanzaro and Carter are sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-free french vanilla ice cream as personalities. The match was okay but you never felt the champs were in trouble, even with Beth Phoenix screaming her head off. Then the KCs got jumped by Mandy Rose’s squad of Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. Are Mandy and Sheamus a couple or something? They got a Lone Ranger kink?

Good, short promo by Kyle O’Reilly.

For me, the show fell into a hole with even more bachelor party stuff.

Who She Beat for a Title Shot?

We find out Franky Monet gets a title shot at the champion, Raquel Gonález. I don’t know who she beat to get that so maybe her wins were on DARK.

Mei Ying defeated Virginia Ferry

Mei Ying made her in-ring debut. Su Yung called her lawyer.

Tommaso Ciampa with another fairly good promo. Better than when he’s trading lines back and forth with Timothy Thatcher. The chair throw at the end of every promo is too precious. He’s in the top contender four-way next week with Pete Dunne, LA Knight, and O’Reilly.

Main Event: MSK defeated Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch

For the NXT Tag Team Championship

They closed with their second tag title match of the show with MSK defending their tag titles against former champs Oney Lorcan and returning from injury, Danny Burch, high-waisted trunks and all. Nice match with MSK retaining.

Then Lorcan and Burch are betrayed by their allies, Dunne and Ridge Holland. I could not get over Dunne trying to kick someone in loafers and some tight-ass capris. Either the man bun goes or the capris. You cannot have both and try to look tough.

A solid enough show that served as a setup for a big show next week.
