IMPACT Wrestling Bound For Glory 2022 Predictions

IMPACT Wrestling is hosting its annual Bound For Glory (BFG) pay-per-view. Since 2005, BFG serves as the company’s biggest PPV event of the year. This year’s show features eight matches, a total of six title matches, and two non-title matches. In anticipation of Bound for Glory, here are my predictions for each match.

Call Your Shot Gauntlet

Predicted Winner: Steve Maclin

The Call Your Shot Gauntlet match is definitely the match I’m looking forward to the most. IMPACT’s Call Your Shot Gauntlet match has always been a favorite match because I enjoy multi-person matches that are sure to feature some surprise entrances. Of course, the surprise entrances aren’t likely to win the match, it’s always fun to see who will make an appearance.

Since this match will feature 20 wrestlers, it’s harder to predict who will win. My guess is that one of the winners will be one of the announced wrestlers. Yep, the wrestlers featured on the match poster. I predict Steve Maclin will win this year’s Call Your Shot Gauntlet. Maclin has defeated several top IMPACT stars and IMPACT legends, including Moose, Sami Callihan, and James Storm. He’ll win and call his shot and challenge current IMPACT World Champion, Josh Alexander, at a future IMPACT Wrestling pay-per-view. Personally, I can’t think of anyone besides Maclin to defeat Alexander.

Mickie James vs Mia Yim

Predicted Winner: Mickie James

The Knockouts division is arguably the best women’s division on US television and Mickie James has declared that she will work her way to the top of the division. But there is a catch. James has promised to retire from professional wrestling if she loses. If Mickie James is going to retire, what better way to end a tremendous wrestling career at IMPACT Wrestling’s biggest pay-per-view of the year. Well, that would be nice and all, but James isn’t losing yet.

While Mia Yim has had a great run since returning to IMPACT Wrestling at Under Siege 2022, I don’t think she will retire Mickie James. Not because Yim isn’t capable, but because James has one more Knockouts World Championship reign.

Brian Myers Open Challenge

For the Digital Media Championship

Predicted Winner: Brian Myers

Brian Myers has opened a challenge for the IMPACT Digital Media Championship to wrestlers from anywhere, so this will be interesting to see who challenges for the championship. Open challenges are a great way for wrestling companies to debut new talent, showcase talent, feature a guest talent, or bring back returning talent. Since this match is an open challenge, Myers will more than likely retain.

VXT (c) vs Death Dollz

For the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship

Predicted Winner: Death Dollz

The build for the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship match has focused a lot on the Death Dollz, Taya Valkyrie, Rosemary, and Jessicka (primarily Havok’s transformation into Jessicka). Not much of the build has focused on the champions VXT, Chelsea Green and Deonna Purrazzo. Makes me wonder. Hmmm. New KOs World Tag Team champions? I think so.

“Speedball” Mike Bailey (c) vs Frankie Kazarian

For the X Division Championship

Predicted Winner: “Speedball” Mike Bailey

“Speedball” Mike Bailey might be IMPACT Wrestling’s defending champion MVP because he has already defended the X Division Championship 9 times in his 110-day reign. (He might just break Christopher Daniel’s record.) But he will have a tough challenge taking on All Elite Wrestling’s Frankie Kazarian. Kazarian, a five-time X Division Champion, earned his opportunity after surviving a Triple Threat Revolver at Victory Road. Even though it would be cool to experience another Kazarian X Division title reign, I don’t think he will defeat Bailey at BFG. I do think Bailey is destined to break Daniel’s record of most X Division title reigns.

The Kingdom (c) vs The Motor City Machine Guns

For the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship

Predicted Winner: The Kingdom

The Kingdom, IMPACT World Tag Team champions, vs The Motor City Machine Guns. Another tough match prediction because both teams have very similar accomplishments. And while I absolutely love the Motor City Machine Guns (the most influential tag team of the 2000s and 2010s), Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, I don’t think the Guns will dethrone The Kingdom. Why? It’s simple. The numbers game. If Maria Kanellis-Bennett is at ringside, The Kingdom will have the numbers advantage (something we all saw during the Alex Shelley vs Matt Taven match on IMPACT Wrestling).

Jordynne Grace (c) vs Masha Slamovich

For the Knockouts World Championship

Predicted Winner: Masha Slamovich

This is a tough one. Both Jordynne Grace and Masha Slamovich have produced some of their best work in this storyline. Slamovich, fairly new to IMPACT Wrestling, is currently undefeated. But this is Slamovich’s first major feud in IMPACT Wrestling. She hasn’t faced many KOs, and she definitely hasn’t faced the first-ever Triple Crown KO. And because of this, I can see either woman walking out of BFG as KO World Champion. But I give the edge to Slamovich, the more vicious competitor.

Josh Alexander (c) vs Eddie Edwards

For the IMPACT World Championship

Predicted Winner: Josh Alexander

Eddie Edwards enters his match against IMPACT Wrestling World champion, Josh Alexander with momentum in his favor. Edwards was the first person in IMPACT Wrestling to pin Alexander in like forever. Yet, I don’t think momentum will be enough to stop the Walking Weapon. I’m predicting Alexander will retain. He will go on to defend the IMPACT Wrestling World Championship a few more times before being challenged by (my prediction) Steve Maclin.

As a wrestling fan, more importantly, an IMPACT Wrestling fan, I am excited for this year’s Bound For Glory. With eight matches on the card, this is sure to be a great show filled with some surprises and unpredictable wins.

Who do you predict to win at this year’s BFG?
