This year’s NXT TakeOver: WarGames is an example of quality over quantity. With only four matches, two title matches, and two non-title matches, WarGames may become an instant classic. I’m already excited and looking forward to all four matches.
Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Velveteen Dream singles match for the NXT Championship
Winner: Velveteen Dream
Who I Would Like to Win: Velveteen Dream
So will it be dream on or dream over for Velveteen Dream? Dream is a star, and is in the biggest match of his NXT career. If handled with care, Dream is a future WWE merch-selling main eventer. Some fans believe Tommaso Ciampa will drop the title and reunited with frienemy Johnny Gargano. Since Gargano’s return to NXT, Ciampa has been very vocal about Gargano’s heel antics. If the WWE does plan to reunite DIY, Ciampa may lose the NXT championship.
Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Kairi Sane in a two-out-of-three falls match for the NXT Women’s Championship
Winner: Shayna Baszler
Who I Would Like to Win: Kairi Sane
Shayna Baszler will defeat Kairi Sane with a final score of 2 to 1. Baszler will probably get the first fall, and Sane will probably get the second. With the score tied, either Baszler or Sane could take the last fall. However, Baszler is a heel, and heels do heel things. I wouldn’t be surprised if Baszler’s friends, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke, come to her aid. Baszler will pick up the win and retain.
The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong) vs. Pete Dunne, Ricochet, and War Raiders (Hanson and Rowe) WarGames match
Winner: The Undisputed Era
Who I Would Like to Win: Either Team
The Undisputed Era is winning this one because they have three advantages. Thanks to Kyle O’Reilly, The Undisputed Era will have a numerical advantage, and the numbers game will really come in handy. In a WarGames match teamwork is vital. While the War Raiders, Hanson and Rowe, have experience working together, Pete Dunne and Ricochet do not. This puts team Ricochet at a disadvantage, and one mistake could certainly derail the team. If this does happen, The Undisputed Era will capitalize. And unlike Team Ricochet, each member of The Undisputed Era has WarGames experience. A numerical advantage, teamwork, and experience will be too much for the other team to handle.
Aleister Black vs. Johnny Gargano
Winner: Aleister Black
Who I Would Like to Win: Johnny Gargano
Johnny Gargano needs this win. Like really needs it. Since feuding with NXT champion Tommaso Ciampa, Gargano hasn’t picked up any major wins. It started to become so bad that disgruntled fans began to call Gargano “Johnny Failure”. With the time off and a heel turn, a win could be a fresh start for Gargano. Nevertheless, I’m predicting a victory for Aleister Black.
