WWE NXT TakeOver WarGames 2020 Report Card

The women of NXT stole the show! Some may even say the NXT women save this year’s NXT TakeOver WarGames. The pay-per-view was comprised of five matches, including two WarGames matches and one championship match. While the men’s WarGame match, The Undisputed Era vs Team McAfee, main evented, the women’s WarGame match should have been given the slot. From bell to bell, Team Candice vs Team Shotzi delivered. The match was entertaining and featured several memorable moments. The right team won, and having Raquel González pin the Women’s champion, Io Shirai is a great way to start a González vs Shirai feud.

The Undisputed Era vs Team McAfee was good but unable to match the women’s WarGame match. The women set the bar high. A win for The Undisputed Era leads to many questions. What’s next for Team McAfee? What’s next for The Undisputed Era?

Johnny Gargano vs Damian Priest vs Leon Ruff for the NXT North American Championship was also a great match. However, the outside interference from numerous Ghostfaces put a damper on the match quality.

As previously mentioned, Team Candice vs Team Shotzi was the match of the night. The least favorite match on the card was Dexter Lumis vs Cameron Grimes. Lumis vs Grimes was entertaining, but it was not TakeOver quality. WWE should have placed this match on an episode of NXT. The same thing can be said about Tommaso Ciampa vs Timothy Thatcher. A great match for an episode of NXT.
