The 20th anniversary of Hell in a Cell is tonight, and the WWE debuted its new and improved red cell. Yes, a red cell! The pay-per-view card is fairly light. There are only seven main show matches and one pre-show. I’m guessing a few of the matches will be long.
There are only two matches being fought inside the cell, the Universal championship match, and Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton. I would have rather seen the WWE championship and the SmackDown Women’s championship defended inside the cell.
Hell in a Cell Pre-show
The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, and/or Xavier Woods) (c) vs. Rusev and Aiden English for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
Winner: The New Day
Who I’m Cheering For: Both teams
I love both The New Day and Rusev Day! Both teams are entertaining in-ring and over with the fans. Which makes me wonder why this match was placed on the pre-show. Why? I think The New Day will win and retain because of one simple reason. The New Day is facing The Bar at WWE Super Show-Down, on October 6, for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. If only the WWE could’ve avoided spoiling things.
Hell in a Cell
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship with Mick Foley as special guest referee
Winner: Roman Reigns
Who I’m Cheering For: Roman Reigns
For Roman Reigns’ first pay-per-view title defense, he’s facing Braun Strowman. While we have seen Reigns vs Strowman many times, Reigns and Strowman have great in-ring chemistry. This match has a lot of potential to be super entertaining since its being fought in a cell. I don’t see Reigns losing the title any time soon, especially if the WWE is planning to have the Shield dominate the Raw championship scene. I guess Roman’s reign is in full swing.
Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Alexa Bliss for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Winner: Ronda Rousey
Who I’m Cheering For: Ronda Rousey
Shoutout to Ronda Rousey for putting in work! Rousey has been the nay-sayers wrong. She’s been wrestling and making Raw appearance. Good for her! Rousey will probably have a pretty lengthy championship reign. I’m predicting it now; Rousey will become the longest reigning Raw women’s champion.
Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
Winner: Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose
Who I’m Cheering For: Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre
For the last couple of weeks, there have been speculations that not only will Reigns retain, but Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will win the Raw Tag Team titles. If this happens, The Shield will hold every single men’s championship on Raw. At first, I was skeptical. But after the WWE released its list of Top 10 Fractions, I’m not. Now, I can see this happening. I don’t want this to happen. That’s an article for another time or after they win.
AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship
Winner: AJ Styles
Who I’m Cheering For: AJ Styles
I don’t think Styles is losing the championship, and will most likely retain until one of the Big 4 pay-per-view.I’m still trying to figure out why AJ Styles and Samoa Joe aren’t fighting inside of a cell. A match with such a great storyline and build up deserves to be fought in a cell. This is also one of the rare times where the storyline has outgrown the actual championship that is being defended. This feud doesn’t need the WWE Championship to be exciting.
Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Becky Lynch for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Winner: Charlotte Flair
Who I’m Cheering For: Charlotte Flair
This is another match that should have been fought in the cell. The story build-up for this match has been outstanding and letting them face-off in such a brutal match would have been super entertaining. It would have also been a huge step in the Women’s Revolution. I’m predicting Charlotte to win because she and Becky will fight again, in October, at WWE Super Show-Down. There is also a rumor floating around that Charlotte and Becky will also wrestle at the Evolution pay-per-view. But nothing has been confirmed for either Charlotte or Becky. But unless Charlotte will once again play hot potato with another championship, she’ll win.
Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton
Winner: Jeff Hardy
Who I’m Cheering For: Jeff Hardy
A few days ago, a story broke where Jeff Hardy said that he was going to “do something that people won’t forget.” What’s Hardy going to do? Swanton bomb off the top of the cell or maybe get RKO through the cell. But whatever happens now, I’m interested more than before. While Hardy’s statement is slightly alarming, it did get me pumped for this match. I’m excited, excited to see what Hardy will do. There have also been a few rumors that Hardy will be retiring soon. If these rumors are true, Hardy will get a career send off at the end of the match.
Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse
Winner: The Miz and Maryse
Who I’m Cheering For: Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella
The Miz and Maryse are not above using shady tactics to win. That’s what heels do. This feud will most likely continue for a few more months. The only way the WWE can keep this feud going is to let The Miz and Maryse win. That way, the WWE can give us Brie Bella vs Maryse at Evolution. We could also get another Daniel Bryan vs The Miz match in the near future.
