AEW Dynamite was held at the historic James L. Knight Center in Miami and made some history of their own.

Cody Rhodes defeated QT Marshall

in a South Beach Strap Match

Cody Rhodes beat QT Marshall in a South Beach Strap match, ending the Nightmare Family vs The Factory feud in the most anti-climactic way possible. The match was solid but not great.
My favorite part was Tony Schiavone name-checking Wahoo McDaniels, the king of the strap match. Chief used to light those boys up with that strap.

Someone is Watching IMPACT Wrestling

Great promo segment from world champion Kenny Omega (looking like he’s ready for the Lemmy biopic) and Don Callis, moving towards an inevitable match-up with Hangman Page, who has to save his goofy Dark Order buddies from an ass-kicking from Omega’s Elite brethren, The Good Brothers. The six of them were overwhelmed by the three Elite guys. That “You got fired” chant says someone is watching Impact Wrestling. Still, good segment to move this story along.

A Fantastic Sit-Down Interview

A fantastic sit-down interview with “All Ego” Ethan Page and Darby Allin by Jim Ross, the week before their Coffin match.

FTR and Wardlow defeated Proud and Powerful and Jake Hager

Jake Hager and LA—Proud and Powerful (Santana and Ortiz with Konnan this week) lost to the Pinnacle team of FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler with Tully Blanchard) and Wardlow in a solid enough match, more a tease of matches to come than anything else as they worked like they wanted to squeeze in every signature spot in a short match. Konnan got a taste too as Blanchard took him down with a chop block. MJF gives Chris Jericho a list of stips before he gets a rematch. Allin/Page was better.

Dr. Britt Baker Interview

Great backstage interview by Schiavone with Women’s champion, Dr. Britt Baker, DMD, and Rebel (Reba) with her impending title match with Nyla Rose coming up in two weeks. She took shots at Andrade El Idolo and Jim Ross.

Andrade El Idolo defeated Matt Sydal

El Idolo got the win over Matt Sydal in his debut. Good match. I felt like he needed a couple of squashes before he had a competitive match like this. Go beat Mike Sydal and Marko Stunt first.

Entertaining Video Package

Entertaining video package on the Matt Hardy-Christian Cage match at Fyter Fest Night One next week.

Good Segment!

Arn Anderson couldn’t even get a word in edge-wise before Tommy End aka Malachi Black made his surprise debut and tried to finish the job wearing a tracksuit in the Miami heat started. Rhodes came in and instead of throwing hands, stood there lip flapping so he got kicked too. Good segment.

Don’t Break Up Team Taz

I loved them airing the Ricky Starks segment on TV. Don’t break up Team Taz or turn them, just split Ricky off on his own.

Kris Statlander and Orange Cassidy defeated Bunny and Blade

I got nothing for the mixed tag match. Yawn.

What was the Purpose?

I don’t know what the purpose of the Dan Lambert/American Top Team/Lance Archer segment was (phuck Jorge Masvidal) but dammit, Lambert has shown if he ever wanted to be a heel manager in pro wrestling, he could do it and do it better than anyone. That dude is a historian and a natural asshole. Masvidal must be taking those Luchasaurus Best Buddy lessons as he watched his coach get thrashed and didn’t even try to help him. I guess Usman beat the BMF out of him.

Main Event: The Young Bucks(c) defeated Penta El Zero Miedo and Eddie Kingston

for the AEW World Tag Team Championship

The Young Bucks successfully defended their world tag titles against Eddie Kingston and Penta El Zero Miedo in a street fight. The more experienced champions beat two superior singles wrestlers and, with there being no rules, legally had their Elite mates, the GBs again, and their own stooge Brandon Cutler, help them out. Even aid from “The Elite Hunter” Frankie Kazarian wasn’t enough. Kingston, you a real pro selling a Matt Jackson spear. He gets on my nerve.
Why Jackson splashed the ref instead of making the save was another time of them doing too much just to do too much and they (and everyone) need to stop this with no one ever getting in any kind of trouble.

The third show of the week, the third show with the “push through the block” save. It’s an epidemic. TF was Excaliber talking about saying he would pick King and Penta in a straight match against the Bucks 10 out of 10 times? The street fight should have been THEIR thing.

Overall, a very good show with some good to great talking and a lot of good wrestling.
